Summary
When 17-year-old Ness Clark loses her mother to cancer, she is forced to return to the place she used to call home, but returning means confronting old demons. Ness is the only female in the pack and it is made clear from the beginning that she is not welcome. Feeling betrayed and hurt,
Ness challenges Liam Kolane – son of the former Alpha – to become the new Alpha of the Boulder pack.
My Opinion
Ok so here is the deal with this book: the beginning is an attempt at mystery but it gets so confusing I ended up putting it down for a couple of weeks. I didn’t understand what was happening or what the characters were rambling about. Finally, I decided to pick it back up and power through the first few chapters, and I immediately regretted putting it down in the first place! I APOLOGIZE!
As the story unfolds the truth starts coming out and it is quite the ride! Ness, with her fiery attitude which I love does not take “no” for an answer and makes her own decisions. Sometimes they seem a bit silly but as she is always kept in the dark about everyone she does what she can to find out the truth.
The plot twists were completely unexpected and all the characters are well developed and flawed making them very real. Some of the guys are very immature and douchey and sometimes made me feel like I was back in high school.
At first I felt like some of the side stories were randomly thrown into the mix but I clearly see now that they are setting something up for the sequel, which I need to get like yesterday! The book kept me angsty the whole time and it was definitely a page turner. And let me tell you, I’m a true sucker for love triangles but give me a good enemies to lovers trope and I AM SOLD.
