“Love is giving someone the power to completely destroy you, and hoping that they won’t…”
Taryn is a badass and strong alpha female who talks a lot of shit. However, she is also latent and for this reason (it seems at least) her father doesn’t respect her and wants to force her to mate with a sadistic asshole. Taryn has no intention of following through but it does seem like it’s getting harder to avoid her doom. Lucky for her there is a strong sexy alpha who needs her help and is willing to pretend they’re together.
Trey was banished from his pack when he was a teenager after he rightfully won the title of Alpha. Him and his most loyal friends started a whole new pack called the Phoenix pack, but now his uncle wants to unite the packs and declare himself Alpha. Because Trey is a bit of a loner he has zero pack alliances and this needs to change fast if he wants to fight his uncle and keep his pack. The easier solution would be to mate, but our sexy loner doesn’t want that mess and has zero intention of being stuck with a mate.
Sounds like a plan made in Heaven!
Both Trey and Taryn are dominant wolves and it was fun watching them fight for dominance. Taryn has quite the mouth on her and did shock me with a couple of her responses to people pissing her off. Trey is a complicated guy, and who doesn’t want a pretty boy with problems? Let me fix you! – he is also the king of dirty talk 😉 and there is a lot of biting and scratching involved, but there is also a deeper sweeter level when they start getting to know each other better.
“You just don’t get it, do you? You have no idea how important you are to me. I need you to be okay, Taryn. I can’t be without you, you have to be here and okay or I wouldn’t be able to fucking function.”
I also really liked all the other pack members. Taryn’s banter with all of them is hilarious and there’s a very good vibe between all of them. I can’t wait to learn more about them in the following books!
Oh! And apparently there is an earlier version of this book with a ménage but I guess people complained about it and was then edited out, but worry not! The scene is available on Suzanne Wright’s website in the Short Stories section and it is HOOTTTTT http://www.suzannewright.co.uk/short-storiesdeleted-scenes/
